Graduate Program

Welcome to the graduate program of the Department of Economics. Research and graduate education have defined Hopkins as a university from its origins in 1876 and our commitment to these priorities has continued to this day. In these pages, we describe our program for students interested in the Ph.D. in Economics.

The application deadline is January 2, 2009 and admission decisions will be made in the first week of March 2009. All applicants will be notified by e-mail and those admitted to the program will be notified by e-mail/mail. An Open House is scheduled every year. At the Open House, newly admitted students can talk with faculty and current graduate students and learn more about the department, the university, and the city. If you cannot make the Open House, we would be glad to schedule a personal visit. Graduate education is a serious investment and it is important to learn first-hand about who will be guiding you through this endeavor.
